About our fabrics

At The Country Linen Company we specialise in French Ticking, Hand embroidered Crewelwork fabric, Damask fabrics and embroidered silks.

We have two ranges of crewelwork, Classic and Jacobean. The Classic range is wool hand embroidery on a cotton base and the Jacobean crewel is wool hand embroidery on a linen basecloth, We also have one Jacobean design on silk organza.
Crewelwork is traditionally hand embroidered using wool thread on a cotton or linen basecloth. Its unique beauty has graced many homes for hundreds of years. It is especially lovely when used to dress a four poster bed, or as curtains in a period home to complement antique furniture. Crewel cushions work well with velvet or leather and the cloth also makes lovely wallhangings.

We have a coordinating range of ticking which can be used for curtains or upholstery.

Our Caravaggio Damask comes in a palette of 10 colours and is suitable for curtains or cushions.

We recommend interlining for our crewels, damasks and silks to give a more luxurious appearance and to prevent light damage to the face fabric.
